There are a number of pre-requisites to be met before a student can qualified to be admitted for Intense Animation Academy Online.

 

1. Age: Due to the complexity of the content, an online student should ideally be over 18 years old.
2. English: All our movies are recorded by English-speaking instructors, therefore a good understanding of the English language is essential

Do I need any previous animation experience?
Our courses are designed to teach students the skills they need to become professional animators and VFX artists. While having previous work experience, academic or animation study may help students with their training, it is not conditional. We begin from the foundations of animation and build from there.

Can I join Intense Animation Academy Online while attending another school?
Students may be enrolled at Intense Animation Academy Online and another school at the same time. Simply all students should be advised not to stretch themselves beyond their capabilities. As with any kind of learning, the more time students devote to their animation training, the more they will understand and develop themselves.

Can I continue to work while I am enrolled at Intense Animation Academy Online?
Students can definitely work at a full time level while enrolled at Intense Animation Academy Online. The courses are designed to give students full flexibility with their own time. Students must ensure they can balance their work and study in order to take full advantage of what Intense Animation Academy Online courses can offer.

How much does each course Intense Animation Academy Online cost?
Each online course is SGD$1,000 with a one time registration fee of SGD$100.

Do I need to buy my own software?
The majority of classes will be taught in Maya. We can facilitate the purchase of a student license of Autodesk products. SGD$267.50 buys you a 13-month license for Autodesk Education Suite 2010. You will be required to pay the same amount for a renewal for another 13 months. Shipping cost is not included.

Does Intense Animation Academy Online offer a refund?
Students should consult and speak to our consultants before enrolling. Once you enroll for a course, fees are non-refundable.

Can I take time off if I have an emergency or fall behind in the program?
If a student encounters unforeseeable problems connected to their health, death in the family or military service, students are required to inform the academy immediately so that we may discuss the issues at hand. If a student leaves a course and wishes to re-join at a later date, the full course fees shall apply upon reapplication.

What qualifications or requirements do I need?
There are five minimum requirements a student must meet before he/she can apply for admission to Intense Animation Academy Online.

(1) A minimum of 17 years of age.

(2) The student must have a good understanding of the English language, as the modules are taught in English.

(3) The student should have a minimum of a secondary or high school equivalent qualification.

(4) The student should have a good understanding of the Maya User Interface and intermediate knowledge of Photoshop.


(5) The student must have a workstation that meets the minimum program/system requirements. See Hardware Requirements (in FAQ section) for more details.

What kind of diploma or certificate will I receive upon graduating from Intense Online?
Successful graduates will receive a Professional Certificate, just like those who attend the campus in Singapore.

How important is having a Diploma in the Animation Industry?
Most employers in the creative industry are seeking those who have a demonstrated ability to perform the work. Unfortunately no paper qualification provides this. The best method to gain employment is to have created a strong portfolio of projects or professional experience.

Can I take one or two classes to see if I am really cut out to be an animator?
No. Commitment to our courses is for the full course.

Do I have to use the computer to animate or do I choose my own medium?
You must use the computer to animate.

How many hours a week can I expect to devote to the course?
You must expect to devote 20 hours per week to your online course.

What does a standard student schedule at Intense Online look like?
At the beginning of each week we release new lessons. We have a strict condition that you may not access a new lesson until you have completed the previous one. How you allocate time to complete the lessons is entirely up to you. Everyone’s responsibilities are different. If possible we suggest taking a dedicated part of your day and allocating 2 hours to complete your assignments. Without the discipline to do this, it’s unlikely you will complete sufficient assignments to pass the course.

How long do weekly assignments usually take to finish?
We anticipate an average time to complete the assignments thoroughly will take 8 hours per week.

Can I upload my "outside" personal work for my mentor to review, or only Intense assignments?
Mentors will only review intense Animation Academy Online assignments.

Who are the mentors and what do they actually do?
All of the mentors we contract to teach our courses are creative professionals employed with different animation studios or post-production houses around the world. The distinct advantage Intense has enjoyed over educational institutions is the industry-relevance of our courses and our lecturers or mentors.

What sort of contact with my mentor do I get? Can I meet my mentor in person?
You will receive weekly contact with your mentor who will assess your assignments. You may however post questions on the forum at any time and either your classmates or the mentor will answer them.

What do I do if I can't make my Q&A for a particular week?

What happens if I am late on an assignment? Points will be deducted for late submission.

How does the grading system work? All assignments are graded on a percentage basis. These percentages are collated and averaged at the end of the course. As per all of our courses, students much achieve above 65% to pass.

How important are grades in this industry anyway?
It is our strong belief that portfolio is all that matters when applying for jobs in the creative industry.

Please explain the learning process
After downloading the video tutorials, students are expected to follow the assignments. Students will be required to upload their submitted assignments within the stated deadlines. Students may only progress to the next assignment once they have submitted the previous lessons material. Mentors will review their assignments and provide a critique in the form of video, text and or email. Students can reach their mentors via interactive online support such as MSN or Skpe or email.

How long are the courses?
Each course lasts for 6 weeks if student completes the assignments within the deadline.

How much time can I expect to devote to an assignment?
Student should expect to spend minimum 3 hours a day towards each assignment.

Will I receive a certificate after taking classes with Intense Animation Academy Online?
Yes, students will receive a certificate from Intense Animation Academy upon completion and passing the course.
